How to make a spinner card and flip your digital image?
Hello everyone!
A new challenge has started at the Polkadoodles Cardmaking, Craft challenge blog. As a design team we were challenged to create an interactive card. So, I decided to make this spinning card using the beautiful digital stamp “Serenity Moondust“.
In this article, I am going to answer two questions. How to make a spinner card, and how do you turn your digital stamp in mirror image?
So, let’s get into it.
Measurements
- For this card, I made a card base measuring 15 centimeters by 15 centimeters. You need a piece of card stock measuring 30 centimeters by 15 centimeters. Score at the long side at 15 centimeters.
- A piece of black card stock measuring 14,5 centimeters by 14,5 centimeters.
- A piece of white card stock to make our background on measuring 14 centimeters by 14 centimeters.
- DCP paper to print the digital stamps on.
How to change your direction of the digital stamp
I printed the digital stamp twice. I paste the digital image in Microsoft Word and size it. Then I copy the digital stamp and paste it into word. Now I will turn the stamp in mirror image. Now I can paste the image on the back of the other image.
I will tell you how you get the digital image in mirror image. Click on the image you want to rotate. And choose in the top menu for Picture format. (For this example, I chose to show you how I do it with a photo of my hand. But the steps are the same when you use a digital stamp).

Now you can choose the rotate option.

And now you can choose the flip horizontal option.

Now your digital images are the same size and can be merged.

Coloring the digital image with my Twinmarkers
I colored the image twice with the same colors.
- Skin: Peachy Blush, Salmon Pink and Barely Beige.
- Moon and stars: Buttercup yellow, Lemon yellow, Golden Yellow and Mustard.
- Dress and crown. Aqua mint, Cool mint and Teal Blue.
- Flowers: Pale Pink and Golden Yellow
- Hair: Caramel, Walnut, Clay and Dark wood.
The background
Since the girl is on the moon, it makes sense to make a galaxy background. That is what I did. I used my chalk ink to make a galaxy background.
First, I apply the colors, yellow, pink, purple and bright blue, spread across the paper. Then I go over the colors I just applied with dark blue and black.
Making the spinner card
First, I die-cut a circle out of acetate. I fussy cut my two images. I place the first image on my acetate. On the back of the acetate, I place my thread and the second image right behind the first image. Take care the thread is long enough to put it behind the paper.
Now I die-cut a circle out of my base card, black paper and my background. My paper was not too thick so I could easily die-cut through these three layers. Now you can stick the layers onto the base card. First, the black paper. Then, place the acetate with the moon girl, in the middle of the circle. Attach the threat to the black paper. Now you can stick your background on that.
Decorating the card.
Now we can decorate the card. I place silver stars over the galaxy background. I cut the stars from the digital stamp and placed those on the background too.
I used the circle I die-cut from the first layers of the card on the background. On top of that I used a sentiment from the set serenity wishes.
