A shodow box card with the digital stamp Rock My World from All Dressed Up Stamp. I gave the boy a stage to play his music.

Rock my world All Dressed Up Stamps.

How to make this shadow box card?

Hello everyone!

It’s time for a new challenge in the All Dressed Up Stamps Facebook group. The challenge is to make something with the theme “For the boys”.

For this challenge, I am using the mageRock My World. This little guy has so much fun on this stage. You can find the digital stamp here:

In this article, I tell you how to make this shadow box card.

Let’s get into it.

Measurements and products you need.

  • The card has a normal card size, measuring 10,5 centimetres by 15 centimetres. But you can make any size you like.  Cut to the size of a regular card, adding 2cm (or 1 inch) to either side.
  • Pattern paper measuring 10,5 centimeters by 15 centimeters.
  • Pattern paper measuring 10 centimeters by 14,5 centimeters.
  • 2 pieces of black card stock measuring 14,5 centimetres by 15 centimetres.
  • Brown pattern paper to make the stage. It measures 3 centimetres by 10,5 centimetres.
  • A rectangle die to cut the panel and the pattern paper at the back.
  • Dies to die-cut the music notes the star and the film in the background.
  • Little stars out an old paper cut pad. But you can also use star dies.
  • Alcohol markers
  • Little embellishments
  • Digital stamp and sentiment

Colouring the digital stamp Rock my world

I printed my digital stamp on DCP paper and coloured it with my alcohol markers.

  • Skin: Peachy blush (259), Salmon Pink (25) and Barely Beige (29).
  • Blush: Blush (136) and Blushed Skin (257).
  • Jersey and trousers: Blue Grey 1 (BG1), Blue Grey 3 (BG3) and Blue Grey 5 (BG5).
  • Shoes: Black (120), Cool Grey 9 (CG9), Cool Grey 8 (CG8), Cool Grey 7 (CG7), Cool Grey 5 (CG5), Cool Grey 4 (CG4) and Cool Grey 1 (CG1).
  • Guitar and hat: Wine Red (01), Burgundy (247), English Red (249) and Cardinal (244).
  • Inside of the Guitar: Cool Grey 7 (CG7), Cool Grey 5 (CG5), Cool Grey (CG4) and Cool Grey 1 (CG1).

Making the base of the shadow box.

For this card you, will need 2 panels, one for the front and one for the back. You need your 2 card stock pieces measuring 14,5 centimetres by 15 centimetres.

Score both pieces at both sides at 1 centimetre and 2 centimetre. And die-cut a rectangle from the front panel. Your panel should like this now.

Now you can fold your score lines and can glue the two panels together.

Now it’s time to decorate the shadow box card.

Matting the back and the front.

For the front and the back, I use the same pattern paper. In the back, I stick a piece of pattern paper measuring 10 centimetres by 14,5 centimetres. For the front, I use some strips of the same pattern paper. I trim strips from 1 centimetre and glue this along the side of the stitched edge from the black paper. This way the black, remains visible.

At the bottom I stick a piece of brown patterned paper, so this little guy can stand on a stage.

Sentiment

With the digital stamp, you get the sentiment Rock my world. I wanted to put this in a star. I die-cut the star out of black card stock and patterned paper with musical notes on it. For the frame of the star, I used black card stock and for the inner centre of the star my patterned paper.

I cut all the letters separately, so I could stick the letters inside my star. Since the image is on the stage, I wanted to give that more sparkle and interest. I decided to stick some little stones on the star. I glue this star in the top left corner.

Decorating this card.

I die-cut some music notes and a film frame to decorate this card. I stick the film frame on the background of the card. I want the music notes to float, so I decided to stick some acetate strips on top of the card. On these strips, I stick the music notes.

In an old 3D Die-Cut Block I found some yellow stars. I cut these out and coloured them with my alcohol markers. I used the same colours as the image. I placed them on the front and the background.

The card is finished. I hope you like it. Please head over to our Facebook Group and check out the wonderfully inspirational work of the rest of the Design Team! I hope you will find the time to join our challenge and see your creations there.
