Join me on a crafting adventure and explore the world of card-making with this Bird-themed card. In this tutorial, I show you how to combine the fun Aveccreative dies and the charming Polkadoodles sentiment to create a magical card that will delight any recipient.
Exploring Aveccreative dies for a Vibrant Scene
For this bird-themed card, I used two sets of dies from Aveccreative. They have a slimline die-cutting set that includes this frame and the little birds. Combining two die sets gives you so many possibilities, so I like to use the sets together.
The frame is super cute because it has leaves attached right away, and the grass on the bottom. For this card, I die-cut the frame out of green paper. I will still go over it with my alcohol markers, but the basic green will be there. From the same set, I punched two small birds and the flowers out of white paper. Another set, a birdhouse set, from Aveccreative contains larger birds. I also die-cut these out of white paper and am going to colour them in with my twin markers.
Coloring with Twin Markers for Added Depth
To infuse our card with vibrant colours and dimension, I turn to my trusted Twin markers.
I used the following colour combinations:
- The frame: Weeds green (162, Grass Green (47) and Forest green (50).
- Blue birds and flowers: Frost Blue (162), Baby Blue (144) and Midi Sky (190).
- Yellow birds: Pastel Lemon (39), Lemon Yellow (35) and Deep Yellow (32).
- Pink Flowers: Pale Pink light (196), Pastel Pink (17) and Pale Pink (09).

Creating a Cloudy Background for this Bird-themed card.
Let’s start by creating a beautiful cloudy background for our card. For the background, I decided to use soft pastel colours. Normally, I always go for the traditional colours. So, a blue sky. But this time I wanted to use other colours. To create the clouds, I used a cloud stencil. For the top of my clouds, I used a soft blue color. I let the soft blue colour run into a pastel purple colour. And at the bottom of the clouds near the grass, I apply a pastel-like pink colour. To do this, I used a blending brush.
Adding the Enchanting Polkadoodles Sentiment
No card is complete without a sentiment, and Polkadoodles offers a charming selection of digital stamps to choose from. I incorporate the Polkadoodles sentiment into my design to convey a fun birthday message.
I used the Winny Daisy Greetings set from Polkadoodles. This set contains both texts and on my card. I combined them. Since it is a bird-themed card, the text “a little birdie told me” is of course perfect. I decided to go for a birthday card, and so I picked the text “it’s your birthday. I placed the text “a little birdie told me” at the top of the card. The text “it’s your birthday in the middle of the card.
Arranging Blooms and Details for the Perfect Finish
To add extra detail to this card, I added flowers and some extra details. I die-cut two types of flowers from white paper. I colour these flowers with my Twin markers. You can find the colour combinations in the section Colouring with Twinmarkers. Using the Twin markers, I make two blue flowers and two pink flowers that form a nice whole with the vivid scene. By strategically placing these flowers on the grass landscape, I create balance and visual interest. I also add a small bee to make it just a little more interesting.
With a white gel pen I apply some highlights on different parts of the card. I added highlights to the flowers, birds and leaves. For the eyes, heart of the flowers and the wings of the bee I applied paper glaze to give it some shine. And I always need some glitter. So, I used my Nuvo aqua shimmer pen to add some glitter to the flower and the wings of the bird.

I really enjoyed making this card. I love to combine different sets together to create a beautiful card. I hope you like this bird-themed card. Let me know in the comments.
