Crafting a Music Gnome Masculine Card: Overview
In this tutorial, we will make a Music Gnome Masculine Card that combines the love for music with a masculine theme. This project is perfect for anyone who wants to create a unique card that stands out. I combined the digital stamp, Music Record Collector Gnome For Men, from Polkadoodles with digital patterned paper and a sentiment to create a playful and musical design. The card provides an opportunity to add musicality to the design, from the intricate details of the clothing from the gnome to the playful design of the musical accessories.
Not only will we be learning how to make a round-shaped card, but we will also be making a cover for it. So, get ready to unleash your creativity and join me on this journey to create a Music Gnome Masculine card that will bring joy to both the creator and the recipient.
Crafting Essentials: Unveiling the Tools and Materials for Musical Crafting
Before we begin our creative journey, gather the necessary tools and materials to bring our Music Gnome Masculine Card to life. I give you a detailed list of what you will need. If you want to use Polkadoodles products with this tutorial, I will provide links to where you can purchase these items.
Polkadoodles Materials
- Music Record Collector Gnome For Men Digital Stamp: his charming digital stamp features a gnome character who loves music, making it the perfect focal point for our card. With his headphones on and a stack of records by his side, he exudes musical vibes that will resonate with any music lover.
- Digital Patterned Paper Set: We will use digital patterned paper for the background of our card. For this card, we will use the “Boo Halloween Printable Background Paper Digital Bundle” from Polkadoodles, which includes a variety of different patterns. The nice thing is that you can also use the patterned paper from a Halloween set for other occasions. I chose a pattern in grey, yellow and green tones.
- Sentiment Set: Complete your card with a heartfelt sentiment using digital greetings. The chosen sentiment comes from the “Halloween Trick or Treat Printable Greetings” set by Polkadoodles, offering a range of festive phrases perfect for various occasions. I used the sentiment “Let’s Party”.
Additional Materials
- Alcohol Markers: These versatile markers are perfect for adding vibrant colours and shading to our stamped images.
- DCP Paper: For the card, I chose DCP paper to print our stamp on and make the card base. This is good sturdy paper, and perfect for coloring with alcohol markers.
- Circle Dies: Use circle-shaped dies in various sizes to create the layered elements of your card
- Die Cutting Machine (optional): You can use a die-cutting machine to die-cut the circle layers of this card. But you can also do it by hand, using a compass.
- Adhesives: Choose reliable adhesives such as double-sided tape, glue dots, or liquid adhesive to adhere the various elements of your card together.
- Scoring Tool: A scoring tool or bone folder is useful for creating crisp folds in your cardstock and ensuring a professional-looking finish for your card base.
- Paper Trimmer or Scissors: Use a paper trimmer or sharp scissors to trim your cardstock and patterned paper to the desired size and shape for your card design.
- Music notes die: We use musical notes for embellishment. I have music notes cutting dies for this. But, of course, you can use all kinds of embellishments you want.
Now that we have gathered all our materials and tools, we are ready to embark on our creative journey and craft a Music Gnome Masculine Card that delights both the creator and recipient alike!
Crafting Cadence: Guided Steps to Craft Your Music Gnome Masculine Card
In this section, I will guide you through every step of the creative process and help you bring your Music Gnome Masculine Card to life. Let’s get started.
Step 1: From Digital to Delight: Preparing Your Gnome Stamp for Crafting
In this step, we will convert the Music Gnome digital stamp into a delightful focal point for our card.
To begin, print the Music Gnome digital stamp on a suitable paper, like DCP paper, which is perfect for alcohol marker colouring and allows you to achieve vibrant and smooth colour transitions.
Choosing the right size circle to cut the gnome image is very important. The right size circle will ensure a neat and uniform shape that fits seamlessly into the overall composition, matching the intended size of your card design.
After carefully cutting out the gnome image using the circle dies, it becomes the perfect centrepiece for your Music Gnome Masculine Card, adding charm and personality to your creation.
By taking these initial steps, we set the stage for our crafting adventure and lay the foundation for a card that will delight both the creator and recipient. Let’s continue our journey to crafting greatness!
Step 2: Crafting Cadence: Bringing Your Gnome to Life with Colour
Now that you have prepared our gnome stamp, it is time to infuse it with vibrant colours and bring it to life. For this, you can use the following colour combinations:
- Skin: Tanned Skin, Peachy Blush, Salmon Pink, Pale Cream
- Hat, Jacket, Slippers, and Cassette Tape: Grass Green, Forest Green, Dark Green
- Beard: Cool Grey 7, Cool Grey 5, Cool Grey 4, Cool Grey 3, Cool Grey 1
- Music Records, Headphones, and Other Accessories: Black, Blue Grey 9, Blue Grey 5, Blue Grey 3, Blue Grey 1
- Center of Records and Part of Cassette Tape: French Vermillion, English Red, Burgundy
- Cassette Tape: Yellow, Deep Yellow, Lemon Yellow
- Headphones: Dark Yellow, Lemon Yellow
- Crate for Records: French Vermillion, Yellow, Deep Yellow, Lemon Yellow
As you add colour to your gnome with every stroke of your marker, it comes to life and radiates personality and charm. Enjoy the creative process and add character to your Music Gnome Masculine card, knowing your efforts will result in a truly remarkable creation.

Step 3: Crafting Layers of Melody: Creating Dimension with Die-Cut Circles
Let’s move on to the next step in creating our Music Gnome Masculine Card. In this step, we will use circle dies to create layers for our card.
Die-Cut Circles for Our Record
First, we will need to choose three circle dies of different sizes. The smallest die will be used for our digital stamp, the medium-sized die will form a border around the digital stamp layer, and the largest die will be used for the outer edge of our LP.
- Die- Cut the Digital Stamp: Place the smallest circle die around the digital stamp, ensuring it covers the entire image. Run it through your die-cutting machine to cut out the stamped image.
- Die-Cut Middle Circle: Use the middle-sized circle die to cut out a circle from white paper or green card stock. This circle will form the border around the layer with the digital stamp.
- Die-Cut Largest Circle: Cut out the largest circle from black paper. The black paper will serve as the outer edge of our LP.
Colouring the Middle Circle
If you don’t have the right colour of cardstock, you can colour the middle circle with alcohol markers. I used Grass Green, which complements the colours we used for the gnome hat. But you can also use green cardstock if you prefer.
If you don’t have the right colour of cardstock, you can colour the middle circle with alcohol markers. I used Grass Green, which complements the colours we used for the gnome hat. But you can also use green cardstock if you prefer.
Layering the Circles
Once the circles have been cut, stack them together. Place the middle circle on top of the black circle, ensuring it’s centred. Then, place the circle with our gnome on top of the green circle, positioning it in the centre.
Creating the Base Card
To create the base card, you need a 13 by 13-centimetre base card and keep it closed. Use the largest circle die—the same one used for the black circle. Place the circle die on the base card, and let the die’s edge slightly overlap the base card’s folded edge to maintain the fold.
Attach the Layers to the Base Card
Finally, adhere the layered circles onto the base card, ensuring they are centred and aligned.
Following these steps, you will create dimensional layers for your Music Gnome Masculine Card, adding visual interest and depth to your design. Let’s continue crafting our masterpiece!

Step 4: Sleeve Symphony: Crafting a Cover for Your Music Gnome Card
A music record is incomplete without a sleeve. It adds that extra touch of authenticity. Let’s craft a custom sleeve to complement our Music Gnome Masculine Card.
Creating the sizes for the patterned paper
To begin with, print the pattern paper for the record sleeve twice, as we will need one for the front and one for the back. We need pattern paper measuring 13 centimetres by 13 centimetres and pattern paper measuring 14 centimetres by 15 centimetres. The largest paper is for the front of the record sleeve.
Scoring and folding
Take the pattern paper measuring 14 centimetres by 15 centimetres. Make fold lines at 1 centimetre on the sides and bottom of the square patterned paper to create folding flaps. This allows us to install the cover later.
Partial Die-Cutting
For the larger piece of patterned paper for the front cover, use a circle die for partial die-cutting to create a half-circle shape on the top edge. Place the die where you want the half-circle to be and secure it with tape. Then, run it through your die-cutting machine.
Assembling the sleeve
Now, it’s time to assemble the sleeve. Apply double-sided tape along the scored lines on the square patterned paper. Attach the larger piece of patterned paper for the front cover to these taped areas, ensuring the half-circle opening aligns with the top edge of the square.
Finishing Touches
You can now slide your Music Gnome Masculine Card with the sleeve assembled. The sleeve adds a stylish and protective cover to your handmade card, giving it that professional touch.
By following these steps, you will craft a charming sleeve for your Music Gnome Masculine Card, enhancing its presentation and adding to the overall appeal of your creation. Let’s complete our card with this final touch!

Step 5: Crafting Finesse: Putting the Final Touches on Your Musical Creation
As we approach the final stage of creating our Music Gnome Masculine Card, let’s focus on adding sentiments and embellishments to enhance its charm and appeal.
Creating Sentiments
I have selected two phrases for the sentiments, to convey the perfect message. Using my label maker, I have printed “YOU ROCK” on black tape to create a bold and dynamic statement. This sentiment is affixed to the bottom of the white circle that contains our gnome image. Additionally, I have chosen “Party Time” from the “Halloween Trick or Treat” set and printed the words in green letters. I then cut them out individually. These sentiments add personality and flair to our card design.
Adding Embellishments
I have incorporated music note shapes and other decorative elements, to embellish the card. I have die-cut three music note shapes from black paper and placed one at the top and two at the sides of the gnome image. These music notes bring a playful touch to our design.
For the sleeve of our Music Gnome Masculine Card, I wanted to adorn it with additional embellishments. Along with the sentiment “Party Time,” I have used a small photo negative as a focal point. Inside the photo negative, I have placed the words “party time” using foam tape for dimension. To complement the sentiment, we have added more music note embellishments to the top edges of the sleeve.
By combining sentiments and embellishments strategically, we have created a visually captivating and harmonious design for our Music Gnome Masculine Card. Now, let’s step back and admire our masterpiece, ready to share it with someone special! l!
