Handmade Cocktail card with bright rainbow colours, yellow, blue red pink and green on a ink smooshed background and with a red sentiment Cheers

Cocktail card | Using ink smooshing technique

Hello everyone, today is another cheerful summer card. It is still 30 degrees here in the Netherlands, so I am still in the summer mood. But soon there will be autumn cards too. But for now, I made this vibrant cocktail card and used the ink-smooshing technique for the background.

Measurements for this cocktail card

For this card, I have again used the basic dimensions as we use them here in the Netherlands. That means that the basic card is 10.5 centimetres by 15 centimetres. The red paper is 14.5 centimetres by 10 centimetres. The homemade background measures 9.5 cm by 14 cm.

Digital stamp

The digital stamp with the cocktails is a freebie you can find on the website of Papercraftermagazine. You get several summary digital stamps. These are called Free Hunkdory Summer Fun Digi stamps. So take a look, because they have many more free digital stamps.

Colouring

Now let’s color the cocktail glasses first. I coloured them with my alcohol markers and used the following colour combinations.

  • Middle cocktail with strawberry: Coral Red (12), Mellon Yellow (33), Deep Yellow (32), Pastel lemon (39) and Canaria Yellow (45).
    * The strawberry: Burgundy (247), Geranium (15), Vermillion (14), Scarlet (13), Coral Red (12), Green Grass (41) and Weeds Green (162)
  • Blue cocktail: Indian Blue (64), Cerulean Blue L. (262) and Verona Blue (252)
  • Green cocktail: Green smoothie (243), Weeds Green (162), Yellow Green (48), Techno Green (234) and Soft Olive Green (40)
  • Pink cocktail: Vivid Reddish Purple (86), Pale Pink (09), Roze Pink (08) and Pastel Pink (17)
    * Cherry: Burgundy (247), Geranium (15) and Vermillion (14)
  • Glass: Cool shadow (178) and Blanc (0)
  • Umbrella: Forest Green (50), Grass Green (47), Weeds Green (162) and Yellow Green (48)
  • straw blue cocktail: Burgundy (247) , Cherry Pink (05) and Cardinal (244)
  • Straw green cocktail: Lemon Yellow (35), Pastel Yellow (39) and Canaria Yellow (45)
  • Lemon: Dark Yellow (31), Lemon Yellow (35) and Pastel Yellow (39)

The background

For the background, I used the ink smooshing technique. I used my aqua markers for this technique.

I applied the colours to a piece of plastic in the order I wanted them to appear on paper. After you have put them on the plastic, you spray some water on it. Then you put the plastic on the paper so that the colours are applied on the paper. You press it a bit with your hands and then the colours run into each other.

This way, you create a nice, cheerful background.

Finishing the card

Now it is time to finish the card. With the letter dies, I cut the letters out of the red paper to form the word Cheers. I then glued them to the bottom of the card. I cut out the cocktails so that I could decide for myself where to place them on the card. I gave them some texture with some foam tape.

And then the card is ready again. I hope you will find it a successful card again. Until next time!
