Using the heat active pen to foil your card

Hello everyone!

It’s Thursday, which means a new challenge on the CRAFT Challenge blog. This week’s theme is Christmas. I am happy to share with you this Christmas choir card with you.

I recently bought a heat active pen to apply foil to your card. How I used this on the card, you can read in this article.

Using the heat active pen to foil your card with the use of dies

I wanted to make musical notes on the background of these singing men. I haven’t used the active pen yet, so I wanted to use it with this card. First, I die-cut musical notes out of white paper. I use the negative as a template to draw to musical notes on the black paper.

I heat up my pen and put hot foil paper on the place where I want my music notes. I place my template of musical notes over the foil and now draw over the foil with my pen. When that is done, I release the foil from my paper and there is a golden musical note.

Making the golden frame with embossing powder

I wanted to make a golden border around my background. I ran out of gold paper in stock, so I decided to make my own gold paper with embossing powder. I made the frame myself, because I only have a rectangle frame with stitches on it. I cut a piece of white card stock measuring 14,5 centimeters by 10 centimeters. I wanted the frame to be about en 0,5 centimeters wide. Using my paper trimmer, I cut out a rectangle on the inside.

Then I place my frame into the sticky embossing ink. I used the gold embossing powder on it and heated it with my heat gun.

Assembling the card

First, I glue my frame onto the black background. This I glue onto my base card. I stick the singing men with foam tap on my card. I found a small banner in my stash with the words yay yay yay. I didn’t like the colors on the original banner, so I changed the colors with my gel pens.

The card is ready. Thank you for visiting my blog. Hope to see you next time.

Happy crafting!
