Hello everyone!

It’s time again for a new challenge on the Polkadoodles challenge blog. This time, we as a design team were asked to create something with the theme “Birds and Flowers”. I chose the digital stamp “Love Bird Rose Flowers” and made this cute Birds and flowers card.

This stamp, sentiment and digital paper are from the Valentine’s set. But you can also use it for other occasions. I would send this card to someone who could use some love, and not just for Valentine.

Let’s get started.

Measurements birds and flowers card:

  • The base card measures 10,5 centimeters by 15 centimeters. To make the base yourself, you will need a piece of white card stock measuring 15 centimetres by 21 centimetres. Score at the long side at 10.5 centimetres.
  • A piece of black card stock measuring 10 centimeters by 14,5 centimeters.
  • A piece of patterned paper measuring 9,5 centimeters by 14 centimeters.
  • A piece of black card stock measuring 8,5 centimeters by 12 centimeters.
  • A piece of white card stock to die-cut a triangle frame from.

Below is a list of all the things I used from Polkadoodles with the links.

Digital stamp Lover bird rose flowers and colouring.

I printed my digital stamp on DCP paper and coloured it with my alcohol markers.

  • Bird: Cool Grey 4, Cool Grey 1 and the Colourless blender.
  • Beak and legs: Yellow, Dark Yellow and Lemon Yellow.
  • Leaves: Forest Green, Grass Green and Weeds Green.
  • Flowers: Coral Pink, Warm Coral and Cardinal.
  • Hearts: Coral Pink, Cardinal, English Red and Burgundy.

To add some dimension to the image, I created some highlights with my white gel pen. Finally, I put some glitter glue on the heart to give it some shine.

The sentiment “With Love”

First, I printed my sentiment on DCP Paper. I wanted a banner around it, so I decided to draw the banner around the printed sentiment. I coloured it with my alcohol markers using the same colours I used for the hearts. Finally, I put some glitter glue on top of the middle part of the banner to give it some shine.

Assembling the card.

First, I made the frame. I die-cut this with a rectangle die. Behind the frame, I put a piece of white card stock. I wanted some red ink around the bird, so I applied that to the card stock. I glued the frame to the background piece. I glue this to the 8,5 centimetres by 12 centimetres piece of black card stock.

I put my banner to the bottom of my frame. I wanted my bird to be on the frame, so I glued him on top of that. I cut an X and an O from the patterned paper and glued that around the bird.

And the card is finished.
