Hey there, fellow crafters!
I am super excited to share my latest card for the Polkadoodles Challenge blog. As always, the theme is “Anything Goes”. That means you can let your creativity run wild. And the best part? You don’t even have to use a Polkadoodles image to participate!
As a design team, we were commissioned to create a Just Because card. I changed the sentiment in “Just Bee Cause! I fell in love with the charming Bella Bear Bee Costume, a gorgeous digital stamp from Polkadoodles. She is the perfect digital stamp for this theme. So, let’s dive right in and take a closer look at my buzzing and adorable “Just Bee Cause” card.
Meet the Adorable Bella Bear Bee Costume Digital Stamp!
Surely this is the epitome of cuteness. This digital stamp from Polkadoodles shows a bear dressed up as a busy little bee. I enjoyed working with this digital stamp.
Step-By-Step Tutorial: Creating this Just Bee Cause card
Now it’s time to get started making this adorable card. I will take you step by step through the creative process.
Colouring the digital stamp Bella Bear Bee Costume
Using my trusty Alcohol markers, I brought Bella Bear to life. I loved colouring her in. I coloured her fur with warm shades of brown and gave her bee costume vibrant yellow and black stripes.
This is my color combination with my alcohol markers:
- The Bear: Caramel, Sand, Rose Beige, and Clay.
- Yellow stripes: Dark Yellow, Lemon Yellow, Pastel Lemon.
- Black stripes: Black, Cool Grey 9, Cool Grey 8, Cool Grey 7, Cool Grey 5.
- Ears and cheeks: Pale Pink, Blush.
- Wings: Mint Macaron and Cool Shadow.
Crafting a Buzzworthy Composition and Sentiment Just Bee cause
Okay, get ready for the fun part where we put everything together. Here’s how I made the card:
- Colour palette: I opted for a vibrant combination of yellow and black, to focus on the bee theme and make it a cheerful whole.
- Base card and background: I started with a white base card and added a super cute yellow digital paper from the Spring Gnomes set. It added a nice texture and provided the backdrop for the Bella Bear digital stamp. Oh, and let’s not forget the honeycomb pattern background. It’s like Bella’s own little honey paradise!
- Hexagon Shape and Fussy Cut Fun: From white paper, I punched out a hexagonal shape, giving the little bee bear a frame. After cutting out Bella Bear, I placed her on the hexagonal shape, making her the centrepiece of the card. After all, she deserves the spotlight!
- Flowers and fluttering butterflies: To increase the cuteness factor, I added some delicate white flowers from the same set of digital paper. I coloured these flowers with sunny shades of yellow and added white pearls to the centre for that extra touch of elegance. The digital temple also includes two butterflies. I subtly coloured these in and cut them out so I could decide where to place them.
- Placement of sentiment: The original sentiment is “Just because”. But I wanted to have the words “Just Bee Cause on the card. You can prepare this very easily in Word. Paste the sentiment into Microsoft Word. Click on it with your mouse. At the top, the word Picture Format will appear. Click on it. On the right-hand side, you will see the word Crop. And so you can move parts of your words. I decided to make the word Just separate first. Then I made the words Be and cause separate. And then just the letter e and I glued it to Be. This way you can turn a sentiment to your liking. I placed the words “Just Bee Cause” so that it looks like Bella is standing on the word “Cause”. It’s a playful twist on the sentiment and makes it even more vibrant!
Finishing Touches
To complete the card, I added flowers in the top left corner and bottom right corner, making it all just a little more interesting. Below the edge of the hexagon, I decorated the card with a black ribbon with white dots. And all the details are complete.
